Meal Mate

Meal Mate is an AI-driven food and nutrition companion. A FastAPI backend running PyTorch + Hugging Face Transformers vision models identifies food from a photo and returns a detailed nutrition breakdown (calories, macros, sodium and more), while a separate AI "chef" generates full recipes from whatever is in your pantry, complete with a guided step-by-step cooking mode with per-step timers. Around that core sits a full app shell: pantry & grocery-list management with photo auto-detected ingredients, calorie and streak tracking, a community feed of saved and favorited recipes, a help center, and email/Google authentication. Creators can also publish premium recipes and courses, with a Stripe Connect payout dashboard that splits subscription revenue by content views. Built with React Native (Expo, TypeScript, Expo Router) on the frontend and FastAPI + PyTorch on the backend.
